Le peu scrupuleux Edgar, valet de chambre de la riche Mme Bonnefamille, a séquestré les chats de sa maîtresse car ils doivent hériter de cette dernière à sa mort. Il entend bien les faire disparaître mais le monde des chats organise sa contre-attaque par le biais des chanteurs-voyous des rues : les Aristochats.
